Growth Through Empowering Others

In 2022 I was fortunate enough to be selected to teach adult learners on the weekend at Hudson County School of Technology in Jersey City. I had the pleasure of teaching students in two six-week sessions and the experience has been a lesson in the power of inspiring others to achieve their goals.

My students started the first session with a great deal of trepidation. They all had the same basic goals of wanting to learn to navigate technology. They wanted a level of independence by being able to use email, complete online forms and other tasks that allow them freedom in their lives. I used fun online games and a lesson plan that focused on fun instead of complicated explanations. Ultimately, the students left the first session being able to email on their own and began the second session assisting the newer students. The excitement of seeing them being able to perform tasks that once intimidated them was a joy to experience.

It’s an amazing feeling to know that I am using my skillset in technology to empower others to grow in their lives. As I move onward in 2023 and beyond I will continue to invest in others by helping them to be their best selves as others have helped me. Report this
